October 27, 2025 | Tashkent, Uzbekistan

At the international conference “Reimagining Finance: Pathways to Resilient and Inclusive Systems” organized by the Banking and Finance Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan (BFA), Mr. Khusan Khasanov, Director of Amanah Consulting Group and Field Representative for Uzbekistan at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), delivered a keynote presentation on “The Current State of Islamic Finance in Central Asia.”

In his remarks, Mr. Khasanov discussed the dynamic progress of Islamic finance across the Central Asian region, emphasizing its growing contribution to sustainable development, financial inclusion, and ethical investment. He provided an overview of ongoing reforms in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, where governments are establishing legal and institutional foundations for Islamic banking, Sukuk, and Takaful.

He particularly commended Uzbekistan’s recent achievements — including the adoption of the Islamic finance law, cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank, and the development of a Sukuk framework — positioning the country as an emerging regional hub for Islamic finance.

Mr. Khasanov also underlined the importance of regional collaboration and capacity building to ensure the long-term sustainability of Islamic finance in Central Asia.

The presentation was part of the high-level discussions held within the BFA conference, which brought together policymakers, scholars, and financial sector leaders to explore practical pathways toward resilient, inclusive, and Shariah-compliant financial systems.
