Sustainable rural development project In Republic of Uzbekistan (UZB1023)

The project aims to improve the living standards and prosperity of the rural population by providing access to quality and resilient infrastructure, empowering local communities, and strengthening the knowledge on climate-smart agriculture practices. The project will help in reducing rural poverty and increasing the resiliency of the target population from socio-economic and environmental challenges. The project area is Karakalpakstan Republic, Khorezm, Bukhara Navoiy regions of Uzbekistan.

Support to development of oncology services in the Republic of Uzbekistan-phase II (1021) (UZB1021)

Improving Access to Oncology Services: This project will improve access to high quality oncology services through acquisition of Medical Equipment/Consumables.

Component 2: Improving Quality of Oncology Services: This component aims to improve quality and safety of oncology services through. (i) Baseline-End line Studies, formulation of national cancer control plan (NCCP) and support for development of national standards/guidelines; (ii) Strengthening of prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of breast and cervical cancers; (iii) Early diagnosis and control of gastrointestinal cancer;

Reconstruction of the M-39 highway “Tashkent-Termez” 1255-1315 km (60 km) (UZB0086)

Road Construction: This component will cover 62.93 km of the road, including reconstruction of 15.2 km of the Category 1b road; upgrade of 27.2 km of the 2 lane Category 2 road towards the 4 lane Category 1b road; and construction of 20.53 km of the new road, including the needed earthworks, drainage, structural works, roadbeds, pavement, rehabilitation of engineering structures, as well as other ancillary works related to these activities, road safety components (as recommended by a road safety audit).

Enhancing Access to Quality Early Childhood Education Project in the Republic of Uzbekistan (UZB1018)

Development of Pre-School Education Institutions: This component will entail construction/ equipping of pre-schools in prioritized locations to be managed by Private School Operators. It is expected that nearly 200 pre-schools will be developed and operationalized under this component with around 120 financed by IsDB. The constructed schools will be operationalized by private entrepreneurs who shall commit to provision of quality educational services in line with the agreement signed with the government. Half of the pre-schools financed under the facility shall be in rural areas.

Enhancing the Economic Resilience of Vulnerable Enterprises (SERVE) (UZB1037)

The project will support enterprises in targeted regions by providing an integrated economic empowerment package that will enable access to economic opportunities, allow them to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic and sustain inclusive growth of the individual entrepreneurs and MSMEs. There will be specific focus on supporting women and youth MSMEs and those working in specific strategic value chains.

The project will help in reducing rural poverty and increasing the resiliency of the target population from socio-economic and environmental challenges. The project is located in three regions of Uzbekistan, i.e., Samarkand, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya, specifically in 157 mahallas.
